Exams & Consultations
Exams & Consultations in Toronto, ON
Why is an annual exam important?
Much like humans, pets require an annual checkup! A physical exam and thorough history are important to begin properly treating your pet, and providing preventative care. An exam is recommended for all new pets, and once a year for healthy ones. Senior pets and pets with ongoing illness may require more frequent visits. An annual exam is also an opportune time to address any concerns you may be having about your pet, and ask any questions you may have.
Many diseases can be detected in early stages through regular physical exams and diagnostic follow-up. Being able to diagnose and treat diseases in early stages often requires less aggressive treatment and prolongs and improves the quality of life for your pet.
What to expect:
Your vet may ask you questions about your pets history including age, travel history, behavioral patterns, diet, exercise, and any past illnesses or surgeries. The doctor will access your pet’s mouth, nose, eyes, and ears. They will also listen to their heart and lungs to asses for any abnormalities. The doctor will palpate their abdomen to evaluate their internal organs, and will check their skin and fur conditions. Depending on their findings, they may perform further examinations or diagnostic tests. The doctor will always discuss any further testing with you before performing them.
